How It Works

Selection

Community and youth leaders, teachers, and Carmela graduates can nominate middle and high school students who show strong potential and are motivated to learn. Students can also apply on their own behalf. We are looking for highly engaged students, serious about improving their financial skills.

Education

Students will participate in a series of three 45-minute sessions held virtually. Topics cover smart money habits, credit awareness, and long-term growth. The curriculum is practical and interactive, and is designed to build a strong financial foundation.

Engagement

After completing all three sessions, youth will be asked to refer at least three friends from their community to apply for the program. This model builds a network of financial-savvy peers, fostering a culture of financial responsibility that can grow organically.

Advancement

Graduates will receive an immediate financial incentive of $250 for completing the program. If they maintain at least a $250 balance in a checking or savings account for one year, they will receive an additional $250 to continue their savings journey.
